We also have the CLASSIC trek in Bukit Lawang or the WILD trek in Bukit Kencur.

DAY 1: After an early breakfast you will walk downriver from Green Hill and you will cross over the river and walk up hill then enter the national park not far from the rangers office in Bukit Lawang. Your 3 hour trek here will take you through secondary and into primary rainforest and you have good chances of spotting wildlife. Throughout the trek you will stop for water breaks and a midway fruit snack then after a tasty pack lunch you will raft back to Green Hill down the river. Then you will transfer directly (30 min by motorbike) to the village of Tualang Gepang/Bukit Kencur and enter the virtually untouched rainforest and continue your trek. You will almost certainly not meet any other people! There is plenty of wildlife here and it can be more tricky to spot as it is not used to humans BUT dont worry...you will have a regular guide and also you will be joined by a tracking guide from the local village who used to be a hunter and he will share with you his knowledge of the trails and the flora and fauna. Dependant on the weather you will aim to get to camp around 3-4pm where a hot cup of tea will be waiting for you. You will sleep in a bamboo frame tent covered with thick plastic sheets and your evening meal will consist of a selection of local Indonesian dishes freshly prepared and cooked over a camp fire.

DAY 2: After an early breakfast you will continue your trek and search for wildlife...always remembering to also simply embrace the amazing atmosphere of the jungle environment. After a light lunch you will trek out of the jungle and be transferred back to the comforts of Green Hill guest house. At all times during the trek you must communicate with your guide and let him know how you are feeling as you have the option on the morning of day 2 to simply relax at camp before going back out of the jungle after lunch.
COST in IDR per person (min 2 people): 2 day = 1,550,000 IDR

includes: all permits (national park and guide association), guide, assistant, tracking guide, fruit snack, lunch, food and drink. camp cook, rafting captain, rafting equipment/porter, return motorbike transfer.

2 day DISCOVERY TREK (luxury option):
two different locations and an overnight stay at our Base Camp.

This trek is ideal for those of you who want to be adventurous but are not sure about sleeping in a simple jungle camp. It is also perfect for families with young children who are concerned about sleeping in the jungle.
The trekking aspect is essentially the same as the Discovery Trek described to the left BUT...the big difference is that you will sleep in the comfort of our wonderful Kuta Langis Base Camp (KLBC).

KLBC is located in between the villages of Tualang Gepang and Bukit Kencur and is in a strategic position on the borders on the national park rainforest. It is in an old palm oil plantation which we converted back to farmland and a community garden and it is the focus of our conservation and community work. Accommodation is in a lovely building which has a double room and a raised sleeping platform but if necessary guests can sleep out on the open plan terrace. It is actually quite lovely to sleep on the terrace and wake up to the gentle morning jungle chorus (white handed gibbons, siamang, hornbills..) and watch the mist slowly disappearing as the sun rises higher...with a cup of sumatran coffee.
There is also a wonderful kitchen and communal eating area where you will take your meals looking out at the most amazing view ever....really!
There is an almost en-suite toilet and shower with and additional bathroom on the hillside with glimpses on the amazing view through the bamboo walls. The water at base camp comes from our own spring and the main fill pool actually had a turtle living in it.......

On day 2 of your trek you can walk down through Base Camp cross the river and continue your trek or perhaps go to a waterfall for swim and light lunch. After which you would trek back out of the jungle and return to Green Hill guest house. You also would have the option instead of trekking to simply relax in and around Base Camp and swim in the river before returning.

COST in IDR per person (min 2 people): 2 day = 1,650,000 IDR

includes: all permits (national park and guide association), guide, assistant, tracking guide, fruit snack, lunch, food and drink. camp cook, rafting captain, rafting equipment/porter, return motorbike transfer.
if you want a jeep transfer add 400,000 idr onto the cost.

2 day CLASSIC Trek: Bukit Lawang

DAY 1: After an early breakfast you will walk down river to the entrance of the Gunung Leuser National Park where you will enter the jungle and begin your search for endangered wildlife. As these trails trail are often visited the wildlife is habituated and you have good chances of spotting amazing wildlife (e.g. orangutans, long tail macaques, thomas leaf monkeys, monitor lizards, great argus pheasant and maybe some amazing insects such as lantern bugs! etc) and hearing the jungle sounds of gibbons, siamangs, cicadas etc.  Throughout the day you and your guide will be searching for wildlife whilst taking water breaks whenever you need them. You will stop mid-morning for a fruit snack and around 12 for a simple tasty picnic lunch and rest for about 30minutes. After lunch you will continue your trek and your guide will aim to get you to camp for around 3 or 4pm where your tent is a simple bamboo frame covered with strong tarpaulin and your evening meal and breakfast will be cooked over an open campfire.
DAY 2: After breakfast you can continue trekking and maybe to a waterfall OR if you are feeling tired you can simply relax by the river until, after a light lunch, it is time for you to return to Bukit Lawang by an rafting on the river.

COST: 1,250,000 IDR per person (minimum 2 people)
